We must admit that the storms of the last few days in particular have caused us to have to delay receiving at least 100,000 kilos of cork in our yard.
Well, at least this delay allows us to lower the humidity of the cork stoppers, that have been manufactured in recent days, in the best natural way we know (using the sun) and to be able to correct their ovalization more quickly and be able to transfer them to glm 2.
As you can see in the video, the yard is beginning to fill up with cork from this 2024 campaign, taking into account that we will have to increase the piles height to incorporate the planned and already purchased quantity.
You can already see the quality of the cork in the few existing piles. There is no doubt that this year we will have more cork of exceptional quality than ever before.
In the background and under cover, we can still see 15 or 20% of the cork destined for this year’s cork stoppers, which remains to be worked on, and to be able to take stock of the corks that we will have available for 2025. This will be before our September holidays.
The space that we see to the right of the cork valid for the manufacture of cork stoppers is where, after the first boiling, the cutting and classification, by size and quality, of the planks is carried out. Currently, only the two boilers are operational to give the second boiling to the cork from which we obtain the cork stoppers.
